Tool Maker

Job Description: Celadon is seeking an individual that shares our passion for turning raw materials into useful products for the semiconductor industry. This position will be responsible for fabrication of production parts, prototype parts and assemblies, as well as production fixtures and tools. Experience with a range of materials, including but not limited to: ceramics, Nickel alloys, aluminum stainless steels and plastics will be needed. There is a need to balance cost and precision, including tolerances down to the micron level. Supporting multiple work groups will require scheduling skills. We design our product with metric units.


  • Machining a variety of mechanical components using CNC Vertical Machining Center, Bridgeport manual mill, manual lathe, and other tools and equipment
  • Ensure components meet drawing specifications and tolerances through the use of appropriate measurement equipment
  • Create 2.5D machining programs using MasterCAM software
  • Maintain existing machining programs
  • Fabricate and maintain tools, fixtures and other work-holding components
  • Maintain a clean, well organized, efficient work area


  • Ability to work well with others and become a part of an efficient, productive, cohesive production team
  • Familiarity with CNC vertical mill, manual milling machines, lathes, saws, hand tools and etc.
  • In-Depth knowledge of measuring tools
  • Ability to use those tools to ensure accurately manufactured components
  • Familiarity with CAM software (preferably MasterCAM)
  • Familiarity with a variety of materials: metals, plastics, ceramics
  • Ability to understand and interpret mechanical drawings and geometric tolerances
  • Knowledgeable enough to communicate with suppliers or services we contract, such as heat treat, grinding, laser and water jet cutting, EDM and other fabrication technologies
  • Responsibility for requisitioning cutting tools and machine shop supplies
  • Ability to Edit G-code

Additional Job Responsibilities:

  • Emergency facility repairs
  • Occasional fabrication of components with minimal documentation; reverse engineering

Additional Preferred Capabilities:

AutoCAD or SolidWorks CAD experience

  • Understanding of G-Code Programming
  • Experience in designing and fabricating machining fixtures
  • Precision assembly and automation experience
  • Skills in process documentation
